Homeroom is truly a staple of the Bay. My husband and I usually go to the Oakland location, but recently moved to Berkeley so had to hit this location up. We always get the following, which we feel is the perfect amount for two people to share (if both parties aren't TOO hungry): - 2 Cheddar Jalapeño Biscuits - 1 Elote Bowl - 1 Kogi Short Rib Mac The kogi short rib is our all time favorite, but our other top contenders are: - Truffle Mac - Elote Mac If we're both feeling ravenous, then we'll usually skip out on the apps and the two of us order our own Macs

Had no idea what to expect, but en route back to Marin from a baseball game with kiddos, stopped here on a whim. One of my kids is an aficionado. Classic Mac & Cheese with breadcrumbs was a massive hit. Killed the whole thing (and had to share with his sisters. See below re: standard grilled cheese). The others had grilled cheese (standard. So one star deducted. Not bad. Just not amazeballs to warrant the fifth star. I'm stingy on those). I worked thru half an order of the Buffalo Mac. Contrary to some of the one star reviews, I found enough chicken, good flavor, and right amount of spice. Very heavy. Dense. Also, contrary to others comments, service was good. Friendly staff. Attentive. Dessert: brownie sundae and root beer floats. The latter were typical. The sundae was "really good," per the kids. From the one small bite they allowed me, I concur. Overall, worth the stop.

What a pleasant surprise to see that homeroom has a new location in Berkeley! It's very spacious, there's ample street parking, and even a cute outdoor seating area. My friend and I came for a weekday dinner and it was basically empty lol. We ordered the crab mac and the short rib mac. They both smash hard hahaha The crab mac had a delicious crabby flavor throughout and the lemon adds a nice acidity to balance the heavy cheese. Breadcrumbs are a super must. They make every mac taste better Short rib mac is not as good as the crab mac imo but it was still really good. The short rib was tender and flavorful. The mac has bits of jalapeño, so it's a tad spicy, but evens out nicely with the cheese. Service was also good! It was super empty (just 2 groups), so we were left alone most of the time, but definitely didn't forget about us. Overall, super good. Homeroom has the best macs and this location is a lovely addition to their business. Would definitely come back!

Been wanting to try this place for some time, so i dropped by with a friend on a sunday night. Wasn't too busy, and pretty spacious. It was nicely decorated and bright inside. Honestly, the food was pretty good but the serving size was smaller than i anticipated. I think one bowl is a good size for one person but if you aren't too hungry it's a good share between two people. overall, pretty food experience, i'd imagine parking might be a little annoying if it's during busy hours. It is in a plaza with a few other businesses too. Otherwise, nice for a quick meal! Food comes out fast, service is good, and the food was good :)
